GO TO Black History Studies /@BlkHistStudies in association with Longbellytv /@Longbellytv presents As it Grows Wednesday 3rd December 2014 @ the PCS Headquarters, 160 Falcon Road, Clapham Junction, London SW11 2LN, As It Grows is a film exploring how it feels to be a woman of African descent who wears out her hair naturally. The idea to make it was borne from the mistreatment the US actress, Viola Davis, received at the 2012 Academy Awards for turning up in her natural hair. It is an exchange of the experiences of 4 UK women and their hair journeys, the societal pressures and challenges they have overcome, and the positives experienced as a result, debunking many unfounded myths surrounding the topic. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the directors and members of the cast. Doors open at 6.30pm. The presentation will start 7pm sharp! Hot food will be on sale. Admission will be £5 per person (payable on the door, cash payments only). Children under 16 are FREE. PLEASE ARRIVE AT LEAST 15 MINUTES EARLY. Places for this event are limited so please confirm via email info@blackhistorystudies of how many of you will be attending this event ASAP WATCH THE TRAILER - youtube/watch?v=SGXtAI3-irs&feature=youtu.be thebritishblacklist
