GOD HAS NO PLAN “B” November 1, 2013 chimalabob Uncategorized Leave a comment Have you ever stopped to consider that God does not have a plan “B” if His “A” plan is rejected? The Apostle Peter understood the implications of this when he told Jesus there was nowhere else to go for eternal life other than the Lord (John 6:68). We may consider Jesus’ rejection of Peter’s alternative suggestion in Matthew 16:22-24 in assisting us to see this point. The facts are simple, when we consider what was said there any other plan would have been from Satan! What about the multitude’s desire for another plan in John 6:26-31, does this not help us to see the point? Especially when we take note that Jesus was uncompromising in pressing the Father’s will. In this article, we want to consider the fact that God has only one plan in so many areas. THERE IS NO PLAN “B” FOR SALVATION – God has set forth within His word the terms of salvation (John 8:24; Acts 17:30; Romans 10:9, 10; Mark 16:16). When those terms are rejected, we reject the only means of salvation offered to man today (Colossians 1:21-23). There is no other plan besides the one given by God for the salvation of humanity. If we reject it, we reject hope (John 12:48; 2 Thessalonians 1:6-9). It does not matter how many people argue for many ways to salvation, God has no such plans! THERE IS NO PLAN “B” FOR THE CHURCH – Denominationalism would have us to believe that, for the most part, it makes no difference which “church” we are members of. Statements such as, “Join the church of your choice” are frequently heard. However, if we are to be pleasing to God, there is no choice. The simple fact is, Jesus promised to build but one church (Matthew 16:18). The New Testament teaches us that there is but one body, and it is the church (Ephesians 4:4; 1:22, 23). Denominationalism, with all of its varied doctrines, is from man, rather than from God, and is doomed to fail (Psalms 127:1; Matthew 15:9). Is it not strange that if God would have us to “join the church of our choice” He never once said so? THERE IS NO PLAN “B” FOR WORSHIP – It is God’s intention that we worship Him in spirit and truth (John 4:24). From this, we learn that the attitude must be right and the way must be right. There is nothing in this passage that suggests that it is either or. What we do in the assembly of the church on the Lord’s Day must follow the pattern set forth within the New Testament according to the time we assemble. That pattern is: Each member is to sing – Ephesians 5:19 Each member is to observance of Lord’s Supper – 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 Each member is to lay by in store as prospered – 1 Corinthians 16:1, 2 Preaching, designed to edify the church – Acts 20:7; Ephesians 4:11, 12 Each member is to pray – Acts 2:42 We can no more expect to please God with improper worship than we can expect to please Him with any other improper actions (Matthew15:9). THERE IS NO PLAN “B” FOR CONDUCT AMONG BRETHREN – I am amazed at the way many professed “Christians” live today. It is as if God is not paying any attention to what we say, what we do, or where we go. When it comes to our speech, our communication should be pure (Ephesians 4:29). When it comes to our relationship to one another, we must be careful to “esteem one another” higher than ourselves (Philippians 2:1-5). And when it comes to those who would destroy the faith of others, effort must be put forth to stop them (Titus 1:10, 11). THERE IS NO PLAN “B” FOR CHURCH GROWTH – There is no doubt that the Lord would have the church to grow (Matthew 28:18, 19; Ephesians 4:15). However, what about us, do we want it to grow? If we say “yes,” what are we doing to see that it does? We have heard it said, “Talk is cheap”. As Christians, we should seek to show forth the praise of God in order to draw others to Him (1 Peter 2:9). Likewise, we should seek to sanctify God in our hearts and teach others of His truth so they will be brought to Him (1 Peter 3:15). We are the light unto the world to take the gospel message to those who are in spiritual darkness (Matthew 5:14). However, light put under a basket is worthless (Matthew 5:15). We must let our light shine so others will seek to glorify God (Matthew 5:16). The Great Commission left unheeded is as a sword unsheathed. The power for redemption of lost mankind is in the gospel (Romans 1:16). God’s word is as a two-edged sword, possessing great power when used properly (Hebrews 4:12). As a sword left in its sheath is of no value, so is the gospel of no value if left not proclaimed! As Jesus did not compromise, so we must not compromise. God has only one plan for His people, and we need to be busy implementing that plan!
