GOD TAKES RESPONSIBILITY Over the years, I have come to the point where I cannot say I know how God thinks or works, but I certainly know how man thinks and works! More importantly, I have come to understand how the religious mind thinks and works! Recently, whilst being cross-examined by the United States Senate on the dismal performance of the near billion dollar Obamacare website, the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, declared that Obama did not know about the problems with the website before roll out. To many Americans, she was simply trying to save her boss face, she had lied and if it was true, Obama was negligent and inept! Now, how do we define great men in our generation? We look up to men who display candour and leadership. The sort who admit in their projects and organizations that the buck stops at their table! To these men we ascribe strength of character and capacity. What Sebellius has done is a natural human tendency to protect the people and things we hold dear. But in that approach, it essentially casts her boss as negligent, incompetent and at best an ineffective leader. The Eden Story does just as much damage to Gods credibility. It passes around the buck, blaming the Devil (typical), blaming the woman (lol, as usual), blaming the man, blaming this and that but NOT for once thinking to cast the blame where it belongs, with the owner and manager of the project! Who, unlike Obama who needed to be briefed, is everywhere and knows everything, even the future. That story casts God as inept, negligent, incompetent and plainly deceptive at best. At the heart of the matter, is a refusal to accept the very nature of man. The essential argument that man is intrinsically evil and base in nature. That God did not make such a being, but that such a being became like that after tasting knowledge and enlightenment. I am certain that God did not ask for such defence from man. He is happy to take responsibility for what he created. I hold most certainly that what we are today is how we were made. No apple turned my DNA! My quest to survive, my passion to succeed, my lust for flesh are all ingredients that are required for me to survive in this world. You can call those attributes lust, violence, anger, guile etc, but they are essential ingredients for me to survive and procreate in a challenging world. Man is made perfect to achieve his purpose in a competitive world. The religious may view that as an anomaly, but I doubt if God is that incompetent. He stands by what he made; he takes full responsibility for what we are!
