GODS PEOPLE ARE BIBLICALLY CORRECT, NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT The true people of God never conformed to the principle of political correctness when ever they preached the pure Word of God. They have never been afraid to risk offending people and suffering persecution by preaching the Word of God in truth. They have always understood that, for most people, Gods truth is the most difficult medicine to swallow. According to one dictionary, political correctness is the attitude or policy of being extremely careful not to offend or upset any individuals or groups of people in society, by respecting and honoring all value systems and opinions. Yet the Bible presents the true people of God as being biblically correct, not politically correct. In the Old Testament Moses and the Prophets spoke Gods truth regardless of how offensive it may have been to other people. Jesus and His disciple in the New Testament also preached Gods Word in accordance with biblical correctness, not political correctness. THERE ARE MANY EXAMPLES OF BIBLICAL CORRECTNESS IN SCRIPTURE: The prophet Micaiah spoke truth that was offensive to King Ahab, and Micaiah was arrested for standing for Gods truth. King Ahab wanted to hear only pleasant news from prophets, and God gave Ahabs prophets over to strong delusion by allowing a lying spirit to fill their hearts (1 Kings 22:1-28; 2 Chronicles 18:1-27). King Jehoiakim and the people of Judah hated hearing bad news, even if it was the truth; instead, they wanted to hear only happy news and promises of peace, and false prophets gladly told them what they wanted to hear, as if the false prophets were tickling the peoples ears (Jeremiah 4:9-10; Jeremiah 14:13-16; Jeremiah 23:16-17). Jeremiah remained a loyal prophet of God who prophesied Gods judgment upon the kingdom of Judah. King Jehoiakim was so offended by Jeremiahs words that Jehoiakim cut up Jeremiahs scroll and burned it in the fire, plus Jeremiah was cast into a pit full of mud and left for dead by those who were offended by his prophecies, which he received from God. (Jeremiah 36:1-32 Jeremiah 38:1-13) Our Lord Jesus Christ spoke nothing but pure truth; He never watered down or sugar-coated the truth to avoid offending others. Although Jesus practiced wise discretion, Jesus was NOT politically correct with His message to the world, and many people found His message as either offensive or difficult to understand (Matthew 21:33-46; Luke 4:14-30; John 6:47-66; John 12:23-37). The book of Acts reveals that Peter, Stephen, Paul, and all other disciples of Jesus, were not politically correct, as they were viciously persecuted by many people on account of preaching Gods truth (Acts 5:29-42; Acts 7:51-60; Acts 9:19-25; Acts 14:19, 20; Acts 16:16-40; Acts 23:11-35). BIBLICAL CORRECTNESS VS. POLITICAL CORRECTNESS Paul described the true Gospel as offensive to most people who hear it; he even described the Gospel as the offense of the cross (1 Corinthians 1:18-25; Galatians 5:7-15). Peter also described the pure milk of the Word about Jesus Christ (1 Peter 2:1, 2) as being a cause of stumbling and offense to those who do not believe in Jesus and obey Him (1 Peter 2:3-8). God promised that will always be people drawn to Christ to become saved even if the Gospel is kept pure (Romans 1:16, 17). The theologian John Piper said The Gospel does not offer to the sinner what the sinner wants naturally. The typical unsaved person is prideful and self-centered, they desire to be exalted, saved, and blessed on their own terms, not 100% on Gods terms. The true Gospel is offensive because it exposes humans as sinful and exalts God as holy, plus it demands genuine humility and a radical self-denial of ones ego and sinful desires, and to have wholehearted faith in Jesus Christ, totally submitting to Christ in all aspects of ones life. The prophecy of Micah gave a very serious warning for the so called good news false prophets that seek to please people: Thus says the LORD concerning the prophets who make my people stray; who chant Peace while they chew with their teeth, but who prepare war against him who puts nothing into their mouths. Therefore you shall have night without vision, and you shall have darkness without divination; the sun shall go down on the prophets, and the day shall be dark for them. So the seers shall be ashamed, and the diviners abashed. Indeed they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer from God. --- Micah 3:5-7 The apostle Paul also gave this warning about people in our politically correct society setting up false teachers that entertain their carnal and worldly desires: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. --- 2 Timothy 4:3, 4
