GOD’S WILL Read: 1 Thessalonians 5 Key Verse: “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 How would you respond if someone asked you: What is God’s will? Many people talk about the outward aspects of God’s will: where to live, who to marry, what job or career to choose, what church to join, what purchase to make and where to invest your resources. These verses, however, are much more inward and run deep. These are clear and direct statements about how we are to live with the Lord. There are three main areas highlighted in terms of God’s will: 1) Have the joy of the Lord in all situations because your joy is stronger than any trial. You can choose to rejoice and praise God every minute. 2) Pray continually, keeping a reliant and humble attitude and words with God. 3) Give thanks, counting your blessings and remaining grateful. How has this week been for you in these three areas of your faith? What do you need to do to return to being in God’s will now? Contentment and a right perspective are restored when you fully live out these verses!
