GOLD They say the world will end this year That the moon will - TopicsExpress

GOLD They say the world will end this year That the moon will fall out of the sky in some glorious blaze That the earth will crack. That heaven will finally peek around the corner and say The time it right for justice. I have lived a full life And that is to say That I have given my bones to those that have asked for them I have dragged the words out from even the darkest corners of the rooms inside me As to not leave any doubt Any apprehension of who I am What I want And that which I desire I have climbed into the night sky and burned my hands pulling the stars down for you, knowing full well the scars would always be there At every turn I have yielded to love, and yet I have not found it. Some version, I suppose, that others would settle for, And I don’t know whether to fall back into the bottle Or give into the infinite whisper Telling me to get up Go out Cross this god damned city, pull you out of the house you’re in and tell you that you belong to me. At the very least I will stand in one place until the world folds in half Turns into itself to find me waiting. Spins itself off its axis and hurls you to me. For the first time I will not budge. I will not abide. Love must make the next move. I have grown too tired to run again. Soon, the words will run out. The earth will turn and forget that I was yours and you were mine. That our eyes were four jewels that hung in the evening sky That our hands could not hold it- what ever it was. And maybe our hands fit so perfectly together that we held onto it longer than it was meant to be. At the very most I will tell you that I have felt what others say is heaven, here—times when my hand has touched yours just so, and I do not care if it was a rush of chemicals or what my mother claimed was god. What I do know is at times like those the earth has stopped just for me and I have known peace that words that I have not found could ever explain the gift it gave me— Gold, I do believe is what they call it. Gold, and it covered the night like a thousand falling stars -MICHAELXAVIER
