GOLDIE - TRYST with DESTINY ! 6th October 2014: I was travelling for work and hence my wife was coming back home from office alone .At around 10.30 pm , very close to our house (near Attapur)- her eyes fell on a DOG in the footpath – the dog was a beautiful golden lab, it had a yearning look and seemed like it was waiting for someone. She being one of the biggest dog lovers (she has 4 dogs at her house) I have seen – she stopped the car and went back to see the dog, dreading the worst. The dog was in PAIN – it was an abandoned LAB .It was a 7 month Pup …but the owners had not undone the collar. What she could surmise was that the owners must have left the dog as a pup with a collar on that was gradually cutting into the skin of the dog as it kept growing. My wife tried opening it, but the collar had pierced so deep into the skin, the dog kept wincing with every failed attempt of loosening it. The dog had a peculiar manner of scrambling and placing itself under my wife’s legs, using it like a bridge and cover, which seemed more like a despairing call for help and protection. Desperate for help, she noted down details of the 24x7 emergency help for animals, and took off with the dog to the nearest open clinic in her car. Her first stop was at a Private veterinary clinic in the vicinity of posh Jubilee Hills - Dr.DOG CLINIC. What was saddening is that the clinic management was looking at this as an opportunity of making money and asked for a whopping 10K for a very simple operation. However, they did a good job of removing the collar and cleaning the wound around the neck. Seeking another clinic to provide the dog the love and care it needed, she headed to another clinic in Banjara Hills – Animal Care Clinic. The authorities there had a drastically different approach and immediately suggested People for Animals (PFA) or blue cross as the dog was a rescue case, and to top it they gave a free treatment to the dog in pain and even gave us details of PFA. As dog lovers, we all know its never about the money, but an immediate attachment, warmth and like mindedness one feels when meeting another dog lover. It was around 12.30 a.m by now and she was definitely happy to see the dog out of pain, but it needed to be transferred to its rescue home. My brother in law had joined my wife by now and both started the journey to Old City – Begum Bazaar. Thanks to Google maps, they were able to locate PFA within an hour! After ensuring that the dog was safe and finishing off with the formalities, they returned home by around 2:30 AM. 18th Oct 2014: We went back to PFA and my wife had the Moment of her life – the dog had recovered and it was hopping mad to see her, darting straight for her the moment it set her eyes on her .It’s a beautiful female golden colour lab puppy of 7 months and what is baffling is why on earth would one even think of leaving a Dog as beautiful and happy as this one, or any Dog for that matter!!. What was even more heartening to see was the same impulsive habit to place itself under my wife’s legs when she sat, you can see that happening in the video we have shared We decided to name the dog – GOLDIE! Goldie is beautiful, adorable and full of life (read hyper active)…and it needs a home! It has recovered well but still needs care. As working professionals and both of us clocking more than 9 hours away from home, we cannot adopt Goldie and give her the attention and care she deserves. If you are a dog lover and want GOLDIE to be part of your family ..Please Inbox us / Share the word around ! Please find some of the snaps and videos of GOLDIE taken yesterday.
