GOOD MORNING JESUS Genesis 4:3-7 NLT When it was time for the harvest, Cain presented some of his crops as a gift to the Lord. Abel also brought a gift—the best of the firstborn lambs from his flock. The Lord accepted Abel and his gift, but he did not accept Cain and his gift. This made Cain very angry, and he looked dejected. “Why are you so angry?” the Lord asked Cain. “Why do you look so dejected? You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.” God accepts Abel’s offering, but rejects Cain’s offering. We can guess at exactly why this was, but it certainly had something to do with Cain’s heart. Cain’s heart is found “not right” before the Lord, and he has a choice of how he will respond to the news. Sin has been crouching at the door of Cain’s heart, even as he brought the offering to God. This is no secret to God, and God calls it like it is. In this moment, Cain’s heart must turn toward God. His response though is not repentance, humility, or surrender…his response is anger and sadness. We must choose how we will respond to our relationship with God. Will we adjust our own position and align ourselves with Him, or will we rebel against the cost of being in relationship with Him? God has set His terms in Christ Jesus, and we come to God on His terms, not on our own. HAVE A BLESSED DAY
