GOOD NEWS - PATTINSON AND BIRD ARE BOTH BACK IN THE NETS BOWLING ..... Australia’s hopes of bolstering its depleted fast bowling stocks during the Ashes received a major boost today with James Pattinson and Jackson Bird back in the nets. After Pattinson suffered a lower back stress fracture there were fears the 23-year-old quick would miss the entire Commonwealth Bank Ashes Series. But the Victorian’s recovery has progressed better than originally expected and he has set a target of the third Test at the WACA for his return. Along with Bird, who is also recovering from a back stress fracture, Pattinson was bowling to his Australian team-mates at Cricket Australia’s new National Cricket Centre in Brisbane. Bird is expected to return to full fitness before Pattinson, and could possibly give selectors an extra option ahead of the second Test in Adelaide.
