GOOD OR GODS CHOICE? Deciding on who you will marry is one of - TopicsExpress

GOOD OR GODS CHOICE? Deciding on who you will marry is one of the most important decisions you will ever make after salvation. In a real courtship, the primary reason for marriage should be the CONVICTION that a particular match is Gods choice for you and not just a good choice. There is a huge difference between Gods choice and a good choice. What you see as good may not be good in the sight of God, even though God gave us the ability to reason and make choices. Your choice is carnal and would lead you to destruction but Gods own choice brings life and peace (Rom. 8:6). Your own good choice cannot be Gods own choice. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9) That good godly brother or sister may seem good to the eye as a partner but might not be Gods choice for you. (Im not saying Hell choose an unbeliever for you). Not every good choice is Gods choice, and seeking Gods will is the most important part of selecting your mate. Most of the time, you wont have the luxury of choosing between people or circumstances that are totally bad or totally good. Nearly all your choices will appear good in some way, but only one will be part of Gods perfect plan, or a different one. The chief enemy you will fight in choosing Gods best will be your own strong inclination to make a good choice seem to be Gods choice. God’s knowledge and wisdom are far greater than ours. He can see the entire landscape while we concentrate on a single valley. It will look foolish to try to fit God into your mold and conform Him to your plans. Yes, He did give us a brain, and we should be smart enough to know that God’s even smarter. We only know as far as we can see but God sees as far as we dont know! A good choice will work some of the time, not forever but Gods choice will work all the time. Scripture warns us not to lean on our own understanding but to trust God wholeheartedly (Proverbs 3:5). When you’re not willing to submit to God’s leadership and authority in your life, God will let you follow your own devices. In following them, you will never experience what God is planning to do in you and through you. To be continued.... Oluwatoyin Adebowale KEY ©2014
