GOSPEL RULES THE TOP TEN MCSK recently declared its fourth and final distribution for the calendar year on the 3/12/2014 . The distribution relates to the period July - October 2014 and was for Performances in Public Places ( PPP ) class . The late Angela Chibalonza emerged as the highest earning artist , closely followed by Gloria Muliro and Jaguar , who was the highest earner in the previous financial year distribution . Also within the top ten highest earners were Ben Mbatha , Dominic Muasya Mbithi , Sauti Sol , P Unit , Sarah K , Nameless and Esther Wahome . This is the first time in the Society history that the top ten highest earners list has been dominated by gospel artistes with top two positions going to gospel artistes . In the international member category , Mariah Carey dislodged Diamond from the top spot with Rose Muhando , Kidum , Ne-Yo , Kirk Franklin and Chris Brown featuring in the highest earners list . The list of highest earning artistes signifies songs that the artistes have released which have enjoyed high number of airplays during the period under review . For some of the artistes who belong in groups , the earnings have to be split within the group members and as such reducing the overall earnings . This is the case with Sauti Sol and also P Unit ..who are both boy groups and who would have been in the top but the royalties are reduced due to the sharing within the group . To ensure that all artistes maximize on their earnings , the MCSK has developed a system where artistes can themselves log into the Society website and check to see that their music is being monitored for airplays . The more airplays an artist receives the more the earnings . All MCSK members are asked to kindly log into the website and go to the MONITORED WORKS tab . The members will then enter their membership numbers which is the access code . Members will then enter their names as the user name and be able to search and see which of their songs are monitored . If any song does not appear , the members will then send the song as an attachment together with a declaration form confirming rights to the song . The songs will then be entered into the digital monitoring service to ensure royalties are paid for each airplay . The race is now on for the title of highest earner in the next year MCSK awards scheduled to be held again on the 20 th October 2015 .
