GOVERNMENT ON FIFA POSITION ON CONSTITUENCY TOURNAMENTS Government, through the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture, has dismissed as untrue some reports that the International Football Federation, FIFA, may be against the constituency tournaments. The Ministry says on the contrary, they recently hosted a delegation from FIFA to discuss the operations of the Constituency Tournaments. In a statement, the Ministry further states that they have since received communication sent by FIFA to the Botswana Football Association urging the incorporation of the constituency tournaments into the administration of football in Botswana. “The communication from FIFA has emphasised the need for Botswana stakeholders to agree on the administration of the tournaments.” The Ministry concludes that: “It is misleading therefore for anybody to suggest that FIFA is against the constituency tournaments.” Further consultations on the matter are expected.
