GOVERNOR LIYEL IMOKE SACKS 145 MONARCHS One hundred and forty five traditional rulers were relieved of their certificates of authority in two local government areas of Cross River State, following what the state governor, Senator Liyel Imoke described as their “partisan roles, failing to live up to their responsibilities and not stopping inter communal conflicts which resulted in loss of lives and property in their respective areas.” John Eyikwaje, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Chieftaincy Affairs, weekend, said that the governor was angry with the role played by the traditional rulers andhad ordered their immediate sack. He said that the clan heads and chiefs of the following villages in Yakurr and Obubra affected by theorder include Adun clan, Oderega, Ekoma Eko 1 and 11, Ebo 1 and 11, Ogbokora, Eganarim, Muwane, Evokwadem and Otaba. Along withthe Ababene clan head are the chiefs of the villages of Ababene, Opubantam, Akoro, Aranga, Okparangwu, Itatona, Mbem, Oyong Awuma, Uboknikode, Igbabonghe, Ogbaka, Ekona, Ebingha, Egor, Ayontomoh, Otasi, Ijerewot, Ejirika and Ewama.
