GRACE...Its a word, a concept, a reality that will be explored on Sunday at New Life Church. In the 10:00 service we have seven individuals who desire to join the church and six who desire to follow our Lord in water baptism. Heres just one example (and there are many) of how grace can be seen in our lives - and I share this with the permission of those involved. Several months ago a young couple (not married) with a baby came to New Life, accepted the Lord, and have been attending ever since. Then an announcement was made that we would be baptizing believers and anyone interested should contact the Pastor. When I shared my concerns about them living together without being married (and why I had these concerns), and that John the Baptist refused to baptize some who hadnt yet demonstrated behavior consistent with repentance, it was then that this young man reacted in a way that I had not expected. He covered his face, burst into tears, and apologized saying, I am so sorry Pastor. That never occured to me. We are already engaged and are going to get married - we just havent done it yet. Well guess what? After talking with both of them and hearing of their desire to do things Gods way - they will be married and baptized on Sunday at New Life. Where does grace figure in all this... think of the people in the Bible (and yourself) who sinned, and found grace and forgiveness from God. None of us have any right to cast the first stone - Weve all sinned AND RECEIVED GRACE! So join us at New Life on Sunday as we celebrate Gods grace in the lives of others - while we also celebrate Gods grace in our own lives. Its gonna be GREAT!
