GRANDMASTER: You have to just accept, and get over the fact, that this is a KUNG FU movie. A movie about the real LEGENDS, and the LEGENDARY tales of Chinese masters, who melded forms of the the martial arts, and brought forth, Bruce Lee, and his form of Kung Fu (Wing Chung). It is a visually amazing movie, but, a bit, "choppy" in story line. The director, Wong Kar-wai, is a Grandmaster of vision, the framing, balance, and composition of each frame of this movie is a work of art, as is the choreography of the martial art dance. This elements plus set design and the period styles, the use of color, slow motion, monochrome, and the stunning close-up, cutaway shot, deliver a movie that is a visual feast! As a photographer and visual artist, I loved it. And speaking of love, every frame that had Zhang Ziyi in it, melted my heart. In my eyes, she is beauty, perfected. But, then again, I have always had a "yen" (yan, baht, won, dong) for Asian woman. (Dong is Vietnamese money by the way, for those reading this with your with minds in the gutter...haha)
