GREAT NEWS VIA SUDC: THE HEARING IS TOMORROW AT 2:00!!! Congressional Hearing for the Sudden Unexpected Death Data Enhancement and Awareness Act (HR669) -SUDC Program Director Laura Crandall to Testify Washington, D.C. On Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at 2 pm the Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Health will hold a hearing in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled “Examining Public Health Legislation to Help Local Communities.” This important piece of legislation will improve the collection of critical data to determine the causes of Stillbirth, Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) and Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC); increase education and awareness about how to prevent these tragedies in the future; and expand support services for families who have experienced a stillbirth or SUID loss. SUDC Program Director, Laura Crandall has been invited to give testimony at this hearing and will be available for comment after the hearing for any news outlet wishing to conduct an interview. The SUDC Program is the only program worldwide solely dedicated to increasing awareness of sudden unexpected deaths in childhood, funding crucial research into the causes and prevention of SUDC, and advocating for the needs of those affected by these tragedies.
