GREAT WORK! The Bake Sale made $927.00 dollars to help us buy Christmas gifts for our 2 adopted families as well as send a check to Pine Ridge to buy warm things for children on the reservation. WHAT’S NEXT On Friday December 12th we will do our annual shopping trip to purchase gifts for the families. Meet at Central at 6:30. We head to Target to shop and return to wrap the gifts, have some Christmas treats, and bless the presents. Parent drivers welcome. This is a great way to spend a December Friday. Please come join us! MORE TO THE STORY The families we adopt have become a part of our family. We have had the same 2 families for 6 years and it has been special and meaningful to support and watch them grow. Unfortunately one of our families just experienced a sudden death and so this holiday may be especially difficult. We would like to do everything we can to help bless their time together so beyond our gifts, and the meal, please keep them in your prayers. CHRISTMAS MEALS While we all enjoy many special treats over Christmas for some families it is a time of great hunger as there is a greater need for food when school is not in session. To that end we always try to provide not only a Christmas dinner for our families but enough to make some other simple meals as well. I will be setting up a food sign-up using Volunteer Spot and if your CHILD would like to purchase some items for that purpose it would be great way to share blessings. All donations will can be brought to central the evening of the shopping trip. A FEW MORE BUCKS While the sale was a great hit and a lot of fun (check out the pictures), we can always use a few more dollars or donations. Especially as we have expanded our goal to also help provide some winter necessities for children at the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. I recently learned of a program through THRIVENT through which – if you are a member – you can receive $250.00 two times a year to spend on a local service project. I am a member and plan to look into using one of my allotments on this project. If you are a member and would be interested in doing so please contact your agent! If you need more project info from me to fill out the forms, let me know! Or if you know of another source of funds that would like to be a part of this project feel free to contact me. WHY and WOW We have over 30 National Youth Gathering registrations that came in with the early registration and we expect many more before the December 31st deadline. Certainly we will do many fundraisers for this event in order to support our trip and build our community. However, before we look to our own experiences we want to take time, talents, and treasure to bless those around us. You still have time to register for the gathering and if you have any questions please feel free to contact me (parents or youth). Pastor Rod and Tammy Fish can also talk to you more about this trip! So thanks everyone for a fun weekend….a successful bake sale, a FAKESGIVING potluck feast (check out the pictures), and a really special Thanksgiving worship really got my gratitude muscles working. If you are looking for some things to spark your gratitude and/or some things to jazz up the conversation at your thanksgiving table I will attach here the infamous AMPED THANKSGIVING WORDLE for you to use if you would like or check out, as a family or on your own, this beautiful video of gratitude https://youtube/watch?v=nj2ofrX7jAk . God’s Peace, Sarah
