GREECE EXPOSED: The Plight Of 2 Strays Used As Tools ***Friday 24th October 2014, continues the typical Greek culture of domestic animals who are simply viewed as and used as tools in this case by a company to guard their premises but who have now moved into new premises and the dogs have simply become ‘expendable’** The two dogs are currently chained up near the A6 Attiki Motorway, Exit 4 Aspropyrgos,which is a suburb of Athens and a municipality in West Attica, where the dogs are being kept on chains 1.5 m long by security guards of the company and who claim in the last few days to have unchained and allowed the dogs to walk around for 1 hour per day according to reports which have said, ”The only people that take care of them now are the security guards of the company which has now re located and moved into new premises. 10386816_1546780418888690_6595462123851184715_n REX, chained up near A6 Attiki Motorway Exit 4 Aspropyrgos, In the old company they had a comfortable cage where the dogs were kept during working hours and were set free during the rest of the day. The owners of the company took the dogs from being strays and kept them in care. Reported as ”playful and tender looking desperately for human affection. As long as Rex is calm, he does not attack himself. the latest update is that the guards let them free the last few days, but only for an hour during the night” And again, as is the typical Greek culture, 2 stray dogs taken from the streets and simply used as tools by a company and individuals being the security guards of this company which we doubt very much that either dog had once ”had a comfortable cage” as reported. Both dogs are permanently chained which is a violation under Animal Welfare Law 4039/12, one dog ‘Rex’ requires medical treatment which neither the company nor the security guards who stand by and watch are providing or appear to be prepared to fund The inevitable situation will almost certainly occur as the PayPal and bank account will be produced for overseas donations to pay for any medical treatment while the fact remains that a complaint should be made to Police and charges of animal abuse should be investigated and brought against the company or the security guards for failing to provide medical treatment to one dog and having both dogs permanently chained for 23 hour a day after simply been used as tools to guard the company’s premises but have now become ‘expendable’ Continuing the legality of both dogs welfare, under Animal Welfare Law 4039/12, the municipal of Aspropyrgos are responsible for both dogs being strays, Article 9 Collection and stray pets 1) Municipalities must ensure that the collection and management of stray pets, according to this article. The power may be exercised by associations Municipalities and filozoikes of associations and unions, preceded by a written agreement with the relevant municipality, who is in overall charge of stray pets within its administrative limits. The collection of the two stray dogs includes the municipal providing medical treatment which Rex requires, but above all, it requires Greeks in the Municipal of Aspropyrgos to fund the treatment by paying a local tax to the Municipal which in turn funds their legal obligation to strays under Animal Welfare Law 4039/12, a point (if and when) the PayPal and bank account is produced to fund what the company, the Municipal and Greeks themselves won’t pay for they won’t mention when asking for donations for both dogs which is the Greek culture of using, abusing and then dumping the animals, yet ensuring they themselves keep their own euro’s firmly in their own pockets whilst emptying the pockets of animal lovers abroad to pay for the fallout of the self created animal welfare crisis in Greece. 643920_378606228878513_278791334_n On the 9th September 2012, we reported on the Husky dog found chained up to a fence which had starved to death on the grounds of an office furniture factory owned by EMKA SA Drama Greece. A second dog was also found inside the factory chained up without food or water. The company used the two dogs as tools to guard their premises but had moved into new premises and the dogs simply became ‘expendable’ and left to starve to death. When volunteers became aware of the situation and food and water was given to the dog that was found alive inside the factory and reporting of the story became public, both the dead husky dog found chained up to a fence and the dog inside the factory VANISHED! no charges where brought against the company EMKA SA Drama Greece as the evidence (the dogs) where quickly removed.
