GREENBELT ARTS CENTER SEEKING GENERAL MANAGER The Greenbelt Arts Center (GAC), a volunteer not-for-profit organization, is seeking a paid General Manager. Interviews will occur shortly thereafter. The position pays $13 p/h (sorry, no benefits) and requires 20 hours per week with no set office time. We are a black-box stage that produces plays of all kinds, invites guest productions, and books musical and other performers. We have been an integral part of the Greenbelt community for over 30 years and participate in many civic events. At the core of the GM job is communication (with the GAC Board, directors and producers, the public, landlord, facility and theatrical vendors, etc.), coordination and scheduling of productions, jack-of-all-trades computer skills, and a keen eye for facility management. The GM must be able to handle that communication, keep the Board informed of all issues that arise even if the GM is not primarily responsible to address, and is often the first person called when the unexpected happens. The GM is required to attend the monthly Board meetings, and certain show-specific events such as strike, but otherwise the position is very flexible. Within that context, the main areas of responsibility are outlined below: GREENBELT ARTS CENTER GENERAL MANAGER – POSITION DESCRIPTION Office Manager 1. Monitor incoming phone and mail 2. Schedule and monitor supplies, vendor deliveries 3. Maintain master GAC Google calendar and coordinate all productions and activities 4. Monitor GAC website and GAC Facebook page 5. Attendance at Monthly Board meetings and produce General Manager monthly report Ticketing & Membership 1. Arts People Ticketing System: includes creating tickets, organize comp and reservations, post show checking books to ensure accuracy 2. Ensure mailing of yearly brochure to members and others; process membership applications; thank you letters re: donations; bulk mailings/post cards for shows (including coordinating with Volunteer Coordinator/Board for assistance) Facility Management 1. Maintain computer systems (general computer maintenance, knowledge of MS WORD, Publisher/Excel) 2. HVAC coordination with Landlord Co-Op and HVAC vendor 3. Sprinkler, fire extinguisher and codes with Co-Op and City as necessary 4. Coordinate weekly maintenance with vendor 5. Clean/organize rehearsal room 6. Regular review of entire space & keep Board informed of issues 7. Compliance with Production Handbook and communicate issues and necessary updates to relevant Board or Committee members Theatrical Program Coordination 1. Negotiate/communicate with: a) publishers re: acquiring show rights and monitoring materials; and b) guest productions 2. Communication with show producers and directors regarding keys, scheduling, distributing GAC Production Handbook 3. Handle WATCH, Ruby Griffith, press (with Publicity) and similar matters 4. Attend first hour of opening show of each production (GAC and Guest) to ensure functionality 5. Observe initial strike/load-in and coordinate between outgoing closing and incoming opening productions 6. With GAC resident production teams, coordinate and create show programs and submit for printing and pickup at NCPAPC in advance of show opening
