... GREETINGS! It is Monday morning and you know that is the time for ... SPIRITUALITY & CLASSICAL MUSIC: CHRISTMAS SELECTIONS - CAROL Part II, December1, 2014. It wouldnt be blog good for anything if we were not having a post about CHRISTMAS CAROLS, and that folks is our theme for today ... In Music Dictionary CAROLS are defined as short songs written for Christmas services in Churches and used for Worships ever since the IV (4th) Century Rome, when first Carol was identified. Since then many have been composed, by the XIV (14th) and XV (15th) century carols have adopted language preferences, German, Italian, English etc... It is important to say that CAROLS ARE NOT what one would consider CLASSICAL MUSIC, for many composers remained unknown, however, because of their strong spiritual character, Carols are consider as I would say, and that is my own term, CAROLS are CHRISTMAS CLASSICS. The Carol I selected for this post The HOLLY And The IVY is to me one of the loveliest traditional English Carols, composed back around 15th century; holly and ivy are two plants that grow in winter and are used in Christmas decorations in Churches and otherwise. What you will hear in this video is MODERN ADAPTATION by George Winston, and is recording from his now legendary album DECEMBER - I recommend you to buy December album, the more you listen the more you will like....
