#GTPD Community Advisory: Lockout Lifted at Chews Elementary School: 4-22-2014 At 8:47 AM the Chews Elementary School located at 600 Somerdale Road in Gloucester Township was placed in a security “LOCKOUT” (procedure that secures the building perimeter from an external threat, while normal school activities occur inside the school), after receiving reports of a teenager target shooting in a nearby backyard with a rifle. Gloucester Township Police Officers and school officials quickly responded and secured the school and began investigating. A high school age juvenile who had been shooting a BB gun in his adjacent backyard was located. After approximately 25 minutes the LOCKOUT was lifted normal school activities resumed.
