GYEEDA SITUATION: Not only was the ¢949,661,017 ($462, 166,961.10) allocated to GYEEDA in 2008-2012 not accounted for...indeed by June 2013, GYEEDA also owed an additional ¢259,000,000 ($126,046,284). Thus, total spending by GYEEDA in this 4-year period exceed ¢1,000,000,000 ($486,665,191)--alturl/3a4ky. ONE GOVT SOLUTION (tax more) The government has been accused of introducing wide-ranging taxes in a matter that will make life unbearable for ordinary citizens but President Mahama said, "It is only when we increase the size of the cake (tax) that EACH ONE OF US can claim a bigger share of it."--alturl/jn8yo. EACH ONE OF US? By design..GYEEDA projects were heavily skewed in favor of the following related parties: Roland Agambire, Joseph Agyapong, Seidu Agongo, AGAMS Group of companies including...owned by Roland Agambire; Better Ghana Management Service Limited (BGMS) and Zoomlion--alturl/3a4ky. INTERPRETATION: Govt taxes all of us and invests the monies into programs like GYEEDA for the collective benefit of "each one of us" aka Agambire and co. (and Woyome, too). For these monies to trickle down beyond Agambire and co, govt needed to increase levies on condoms, private universities, and corporations. NB: Bulk of these monies come back to fund political campaigns, and that partly weakens govt commitment to curbing corruption. Ever wondered why another govt-instituted committee was needed to probe the govt-instituted committee on GYEEDA? That gives them more time to craft creative solutions that would ensure three outcomes: appear to contain the damage, protect valuable secrets, and win your votes again.
