Gail still nurses whenever she gets a chance. Im not worried because she eats kibble, wet food, and treats. Alice also sometimes tells her no. Ive been working on the assumption that she has been nursing from all the active nipples and not just the one she had in the Critter Room and saw proof of it yesterday. One of Alices nipples had wet fur around it while Gail was working on a different one. Shes definitely getting milk as she is swallowing and licking her lips. Still shes growing like a weed and this might be one of the reasons why. Alice seems to be self-regulating when it comes to food which is great. She hasnt really shown any signs of gaining weight but I will be keeping an eye on her. They are being fed kitten kibble all the time as free feed and canned food 2 to 3 times a day. Im trying to work them up to more can than dry, but right now it is probably about 50/50 on the actual intake. Water all the time. I try to keep any towels or blankets away from the water tank since Alice tries to bury it and the food for later. Food mats that are supposed to make after dinner cleanup easier just end up covering the dishes and sometimes overturning them. And I find toys in them as the kitties try to hide the dishes. Depending on the canned food variety I can find anything from a clean bowl to a couple bites left in each. Here are some photos of Gail nursing on 8/5. You can see that Alice takes advantage of this to give Gail a bath. And Gail is thoroughly attached so she doesnt get knocked off when Alice decided she wanted to scratch her own ear.
