Gallup reports that the percentage of Americans without health insurance has plummeted to 13.4%, the lowest percentage in more than six years. Without a doubt, the ACA is working. This news is a victory for millions of once-uninsured men, women, and children, who are now able to afford necessary health services of all kinds, from routine doctor’s visits to lifesaving surgeries. In the face of this triumph, House Republicans can muster only inarticulate calls for repeal, unable to agree on any meaningful reform ideas of their own. Now that the ACA is a success, I hope that Republican Leadership will stop holding pointless repeal votes and get on with doing the real business of the American people.
