Gameplay Programming Intern (PAID) Obsidian is looking for talented programming interns to join our team of game developers. The ideal candidates possess a strong work ethic, excellent problem solving skills, and have the ability to deliver on time and work well in a team environment. No industry experience required. Preference will be given to candidates who submit sample code, game demos or modifications. Requirements * An avid gamer with a passion for making games * Self-motivated with a strong work ethic * Excellent communication and team skills * Strong math skills * Proficiency in C/C++ and C# * Excellent problem-solving skills * College-level experience in Computer Science or Engineering (Senior year student or Graduate preferred) * Must be available to work at least 20 hours per week * Must be local to Irvine, CA or willing to commute Pluses * Experience developing games in a professional or hobby setting * Publically available games, demos or commercial game modifications 2.) Art Intern (PAID) Obsidian Entertainment is looking for talented, self-motivated art intern to join our development team. Requirements: • High proficiency of modeling and texturing in 3dsmax • High proficiency of texture creation and editing in Photoshop • Solid High and Low poly modeling skills • Good understanding of technical hard surface art development. • Ability to be resourceful and come up with creative solutions • Ability to be receptive to art direction and critiques from project art leads • Strong organizational and communication skills • Ability to rapidly master proprietary tools and development pipelines • Passion for gaming Pluses: • Experience with CryEngine • Working knowledge of ZBrush • Background in engineering or industrial design Responsibilities: • Implement existing vehicle components into the game • Verify that the work has been done correctly • Work closely with lead artist, senior artist and team to ensure the visual target is met or exceeded • Complete work under deadlines Portfolio Requirements: • A web portfolio that demonstrates a range of high quality 3D and 2D art • Examples of vehicles, machinery or industrial modeling and texturing for realism • Breakdown list with details such as polygon and texture budgets Portfolio Pluses: • Samples rendered in a major game engine (Unreal or Cryengine), Marmoset, or 3do • Concept images of mechanical or industrial subjects of any era • Real-time Shader Examples 1.) Game Beta Testers Say Design is helping a client launch their first game. It will be a strategy game and will start off with simple Naval ship fleet battles. We now have a prototype and will need some intensive testing of the game to find all of the problems. We would like you to join our team on Skype calls that week in order to play and test together and talk about any bugs and problems you see. If you are amazing finding the bugs and helping with the game, you can potentially be selected for future paid internship once the game is launched officially to the public. You should have your own computer and be running popular browsers for testing the game which will be a browser-based game running the Unity plugin.
