Gan Thiam Pohs Tikam --------------------------- Gan Thiam Poh Strikes Again! Remember Gan Thiam Poh, the PAP MP (Punggol-Pasir Ris) who cant speak properly and tried to justify PM Lees salary by saying it costs less than $1 per Singaporean? He has done it again; this time by suggesting to link the balloting chances for public flats to the number of children that a couple has. Under his suggestion, a couple with 3 or more kids will have one more chance at the ballot than one with 2 kids. This, he said, is meant to reward couples who have more kids as well as encourage to giving birth. Now, we would like to ask Gan: wouldnt this reduce the act of starting a family to a transaction with the State? In other words: you give me bigger flat, I give you more babies. Furthermore, Gans suggestion begs the question: if the PAP Government wants to encourage couples to give birth and thinks that there is genuinely high demand for bigger flats, why isnt it ramping up supply? Are there really that many couples with 2 to 3 kids that Gan has to make such a suggestion? Or is this once again the result, to borrow from PM Lee, of a lack of foresight in planning?
