Garage Sale – A hit! By: Kirti Kabra Lokhandwala witnessed its first garage sale recently in the form of the biggest gathering for charity purposes. The group of women from the Inner Wheel Club (IWC) of Mumbai organised a garage sale in the Lokhandwala garden premise holding the best collection of clothes, accessories, paintings, articrafts and much more at the real rock bottom prices. Every item present was in its best shape and completely unused, unlike what is generally expected in a garage sale. The group was successful in putting up a grand show and generating a good amount that will proceed for charity. The sale ran through the entire day till late evening, having people visiting almost every next minute. The sheer content and joy seen on the faces of the organisers was sublime and lent immense satisfaction to the onlookers to support the organisation’s agenda. With the minimal amount of workforce, two months of efforts finally paid off successfully and was highly appreciated by the locals. The organisers received overwhelming response and collected around *** IWC aims to get bigger and better in the coming years. “This is my baby. I have worked to generate what you see today and I am extremely thrilled about putting forth this idea. I believe charity begins at home, and that is exactly what I am doing today,” says Urmilla Sanghavi, chief of the organisation. It was a great day of pride for IWC and Lokhandwala as they added another feather to their hats. Even the heavy rains did not stop the spirit of these women. For their next project, they aspire to gather help and support the senior citizens who face difficulty to meet their everyday concerns. The uniqueness of the group lies in their ability to share the talent as the group involves doctors, artists, painters, teachers, designers’ and home makers. And the garage sale has definitely been a great stepping stone to the concept of charity.
