Garden Journal Events August 19 - 24 Fruit Share Steinbach volunteer pickers have harvested over 1200 lbs of surplus backyard fruit and have shared 1/3 of it with area charities. Steinbach 55+ is partnering with us for an applesauce canning workshop and you are invited to sign up. Come and learn how to process fresh local apples into applesauce and preserve the sauce in jars - no sugar or preservatives added. Learn safe canning techniques that you can apply to canning other home preserves. At the end of the workshop each participant will go home with their own jar! August 20 – 21 – St. James Horticultural Society is holding its 99th annual exhibition August 20th and 21st at Heritage Victoria Community Centre, 950 Sturgeon Road. Hours are 7 to 9pm on the 20th, 1 to 4pm and later from 7 to 9pm on the 21st. The tea will be held Wednesday from 1 to 3pm. Looking Ahead August 28 – Manitoba Master Gardener Association present an orientation session on what being a master gardener is all about, August 28th at The Green Spot in Brandon.
