Gary Johnson really trashed his political future by running for president under the Libertarian Party. He passed up a perfectly good New Mexico senate seat where he would have made national headlines for his stances. His decision to run for an unwinnable libertarian presidency, is a far larger loss to the entire movement, than it is to his personal career. Pragmatism must rule our decisions if we are to make measurable change in the world. Yes, that means working within the two party system. Most people learned about Ron Paul when he ran as a Republican, not when he ran as a Libertarian.
