But look at what happened when Israel partially lifted its blockade to allow through concrete and other building materials. Instead of being used for schools, hospitals and apartment blocks, much of this material ended up being diverted into building a labyrinthine tunnel network. The purpose of these tunnels - many built with child labour and resulting by Hamass own admission in the deaths of at least 160 children - was partly for smuggling, partly for terror. All journalists operating in Gaza are subject to Hamas reporting restrictions. If for example youre foolish enough to mention that Hamas is deliberately firing rockets from near schools and hospitals then youll be lucky to escape with your life. But Hamas is more than happy to allow gory reports on the innocent women and children allegedly being slain by Israeli shells.
