Gbajabiamila: Choice of Osibajo, a Masterstroke 22 Dec 2014 Minority Leader in the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila By Muhammad Bello The Minority Leader in the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has described the choice of Prof. Yemi Osibajo as the vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a masterstroke. Gbajabiamila, in a statement by his media aide, Wasiu Olanrewaju Smart, noted that Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, with whom Osibajo has been paired, has an unassailable character that “has been proven overtime.” According to him, “To now add excellence to the bottom of the ticket in the person of Osibajo leaves Nigerians with a clear choice and perhaps with no choice when both tickets of the PDP and APC are stacked against each other.” He reasoned that: “The choice of Osibajo is indeed a political masterstroke, from perhaps the best political strategist in modern day Nigeria and of our time, Senator Bola Tinubu. “I have known Osibajo for over 40 years right from my secondary school days when he was my senior in college to my university days when he was one of my law lecturers. A gentleman and academician per excellence, they don’t come any better. “I want to specially commend our national leader, Tinubu, who with uncommon poise, exhibited and showed leadership, dexterity, and political deftness, all in one fell swoop. To those on the other side of the divide who in the absence of anything substantial to argue, cry that Buhari delegated his responsibility of picking the vice-presidential candidate to Tinubu I have this to say: “In modern day politics and in party politics, the selection of a vice-presidential candidate is always a collective. But more importantly and in any case, I would rather delegate to a known and proven intellectual and political strategist of Asiwaju’s stature than delegate or even as it appears in this case abdicate presidential responsibilities to four other unelected individuals who now serve as president number two, president number three, president number four, president number five as their presidential candidate has done and as corroborated in a former president’s most recent book. Now let the race begin in earnest,” the statement concluded.
