Gday everyone Coombesy here! Please bare with me on this update, a few things to cover! For the new friends, a brief history! I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and one paralysed vocal cord due to a tumour wrapped around it in June 2012, had surgery and the radioactive iodine therapy in September 2012. A full body scan revealed 2 new tumours in base of neck, one in trachea and cancer spread to over 30 lymph nodes, therefore a terminal prognosis was given of approx 15 months, i call this my use by date which was around December 14 2013! I had another round of radioactive iodine in October 2013, residual cancer positive in thyroid bed and all tumours had grown slightly. Life carried on and then my last lot of targeted radiation at lose dose because of my lowered immune system was done in August followed my iron and blood infusions. I am due for next full body scan in January and we will get and idea as to status/progress etc and a new use by date which Im unsure at this stage if i want to know about! I am lots of daily medication, wear a morphine patch 24/7, sleep with a CPAP oxygen machine on and have blood tests every month and doctor visits every two weeks! This page is about my journey and my strange way of coping, it started with just posting the photo every Tuesday but has grown into a supportive community group! I sometimes struggle as to how much i should share with you all, try to stay positive all the time but thats not possible everyday at times, its pretty hard physically and mentally sometimes. I have decided that i will post something every morning, good bad or indifferent in regards to my journey, i hope you will all continue to show the wonderful support you have. I feel the time is right to involve you more in this battle, not to seek pity, i dont want that, not to want people to feel sorry for me, i dont want that either, just the honesty of my journey! Remember you can be involved by submitting photos to be shown Tuesdays, if you send one in we assume you want it published, unless you state you dont we will publish it! We wont tag you in it or post your last name but we have the right to not post if we feel its not appropriate according to our rules, which mean covering up the important bits!! So expect to get a daily post all being well, it may be a stupid video, it may be a heart felt post in regards to my journey, it may be something funny, something positive or just a simple message, i hope you all stay on board and embrace the philosophy of this page and make the rest of your life the best of your life Thanks Coombesy
