Gear Review: Condor EMT Pouch for IFAK As promised, here is my review. I got my new gear pouch the other day and this morning I took the time to pack it up. I have a VVV Gear Paratus 3 Day Operators Pack (Olive Drab), which I reviewed last week. Overall it is a good bag but the pouches that come with are pretty much garbage mainly because the method of attaching them to the PALS rack on the main bag is unsecure and tends to come undone even under normal use. I decided to replace them and chose the Condor EMT Pouch because it looked big enough and I have used Condor gear before and was impressed with its construction and durability. Here are the Specifications from the manufacturer - Double open U-shaped Zipper - Elastic Loops for Bandages and Tourniquets - Elastic Dividers - Import (Made in China, where else) 7 H x 5 W x 2 1/2 D Available colors – MultiCam, A-TACS AU, A-TACS FG, ACU, Olive Drab, Black, Tan I got the tan one. First off, I am impressed by the common sense arrangement of the multiple elastic divides inside the bag. Some serious thought went into where to put them and what size they should be. The bag itself zips all the way open so you can almost lay it completely open book style and there is a pull tab on the inside front to make opening it easier. This is great because it means you dont have to dig around to get something on the bottom of the pouch. The MOLLE straps are reinforced with stiffeners and the snap closures are nice and stiff to snap shut, which means they are just as stiff to get unsnapped, a good thing. The material is Cordura Nylon and fairly stiff but I imagine that will loosen up and get more supple with use. The zippers are not YKK but they are made of aluminum with cord pulls and seem fairly heavy duty. Lastly, the outside of the pouch has a small MOLLE/PALS rack on it so you could add an additional, smaller pouch to the outside if you so desire. The array of elastic straps inside the bag lets me fit my IFAK components inside without having to worry about them spraying everywhere when I open the pouch. I can put the items in there and organize them such that the items I think I will use more often are more accessible while the rarely used items are stored securely but still easy to get out. I am very impressed with the thought that went into the design of this pouch. It is obvious that EMTs and medics were consulted about what they wanted in a pouch this size as there is experience evident in the design. The rugged construction inspires confidence that it will not just fall apart or fall off your BOB. I recommend this bag as a useful addition to your BOB for either holding your First Aid Kit or just for keeping several small items securely stored, yet easily accessible.
