Gear & Stuff.... An M3 Honey light tank newly arrived in the African theater of 42-43. This tank was attached to the famous British 7th Armored Brigade, the Desert Rats. This was an American tank acquired by the British through the Lend/Lease program. The first 4 photos show the model I built for my diarama. The 5th photo shows a life size M3 as it would have appeared in the Western Desert. Often, new arrived vehicles came in the factory fresh olive drab paint scheme. They might have then been camouflaged with desert tan until they could be fully painted. The 6th photo is a knocked out M3 Stuart (American version) in the jungles of the Solomon Islands in the Pacific where it fought the Japanese. The 7th photo is the American M3 Stuart version. The last photo will be recognized by any red blooded, American boy who grew up in the 50s....the Haunted Tank comic book featuring the M3. Often vehicles were given names. The crew of this tank named her Epona, the ancient Celtic Horse Goddess.
