Geelani voices concern over continuous curfew in Shopian,plans march to UN office today Srinagar, Sep 17: Charmin Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani has expressed his deep concern over the continuous curfew in Shopian and said the people in besieged areas are facing enormous hardships and are at the verge of starvation .While declaring the program for September 18 Syed Ali Shah Geelani said that youth, party leaders and activists will assemble on September 18, Wednesday, at Hurriyat head office, Hyderpora, here wherefrom he would lead a protest march to UNO office Sonawar, Where a memorandum against recent killings will be submitted to UN observers. Geelani said that we will impress UN General Secretary Ban ki Moon for their cognizance towards civil causalities in state and the resolution of Kashmir issue and added that memorandum aims to highlight the delay caused in the implementation of UN resolutions and subsequent political instability in entire south Asia.Terming the silence maintained by Umer Abdullah a criminal act and suspicious ,said that it has proved that they least care about the common people and their sufferings and added that they just enjoy power and while taking into consideration the upcoming elections in 2014 ,they have decided to remain silent. He said that at this juncture they do not risk to annoy Delhi and said that they know that in case they discuss the Gool and Shopian Massacre they would lose and would figure among the rejected lot. Geelani while lamenting at those at helm of affairs, said that innocent people of Kashmir are being killed by Indian forces in a brutal manner and added that they can see all this; however they have decided to remain silent and are deriving pleasure from the power they share. There is no option other than to resist and show resentment against this tyranny said Syed Ali Geelani, otherwise the silence maintained would emboldened the Indian forces and would kill more and more people in an indiscriminate manner. Geelani emphasized to remove curfew restrictions immediately from Shopian area and said that authorities are deliberately tormenting the general public. It is a pattern and bestial method of breaking the will and spirits of the people, said Syed Ali Geelani. While reiterating his call for protest demonstration after Fridayprayers and shutdown on September 21st, Syed Ali Geelani said that on September 18 the youth, the leaders and activists of Hurriyat Conference will march towards UN office Sonwar where a memorandum addressed to the United National Secretary General Ban Ki Moon will be presented to the UNMOGIP office against the and forced occupation of India civilians causalities. Geelani strongly condemned the arrest of its Tehsil President Chadoora Mohammad Maqbool and added that police has waged a war against its workers and is subjecting them to political reprisal .Syed Ali Geelani said that police in an attempt tried to arrest his son but failed and instead arrested his father. Meanwhile his wife when turned to meet her husband at SOG camp Humhama she was maltreated and a clerk namely Munshi Ali Mohammad misbehaved and abused her. Hurriyat Chairman emphasized for immediate release of Mohammad Maqbool and said there is no legal or moral justification for his detention .It is a sheer violation of basic rights said Syed Ali Geelani that political worker is being detained since a week without any justification
