Gen Miyanda Pulls Out of Presidential Debate, Lungu & HH Doubtful Heritage Party president Brigadier General Godfrey Miyanda has pulled out of the Muvi TV presidential debate citing a tight campaign schedule. Gen Miyanda, the former vice-president, has rather been non-existent during campaigns opting to concentrate his message in rural set-ups. The presidential debates ahead of the January, 20 presidential elections will kick off tomorrow with the availability of the top two contenders – Edgar Lungu (PF) and Hakainde Hichilema (UPND) not guaranteed. Organizers that include Muvi Television, Hot FM and Action Aid announced that eight candidates have confirmed their participation with Heritage Party president Godfrey Miyanda indicating his unavailability. Patriotic Front candidate Edgar Lungu and United Party for National Development leader Hakainde Hichilema have yet to confirm although they are already listed for an appearance on Thursday. The presidential debates will take place at the Mulungushi International Conference on Wednesday and Thursday and will be beamed live by Muvi Television and also popular local radio station Hot FM.
