Generational Curses # To teach that a Christian has to break curses and covenants of the ancestors asking forgiveness for them is to minimize the power of God in conversion. Wherefore also able to save completely those who come to it by God , always living to make intercession for them ( Heb. 7:25) . And so, if anyone is in Christ , he is a new creature: old things are passed away, behold all things are become new ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ) . Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ ( Eph 1:3 ) We know that the blessings of the old covenant were conditional on obedience of the people of Israel. When disobeyed , the curses of God came upon him . Ezra , Nehemiah and Daniel actually recognized the sin of their ancestors , but asked for forgiveness for the sins of the present, the current generation. Although it is possible for someone to suffer the consequences of the sins of others , the same does not happen with the guilt . The Word of God does not blame anyone for the sins of others. The Bible nowhere teaches intercede for those who have died , since after death follows judgment , not prayer or request for forgiveness for the dead ( Heb. 9:27 ) . One must remember that, in the light of the Bible , no one can repent for someone else . Repentance is something personal , that is before God . The idea that we have to intercede , asking forgiveness for sins committed those ancestors , and break the covenants they did, contradicts the Word of God , which says : So then each of us shall give account of himself God ( Rom. 14:12). Also Ezekiel 18;18/24 Says the son can not have the sins (iniquities from the Father, and Father not from the Sons )
