Genesis in Milwaukee, Inc. The MISSION of Genesis in Milwaukee is to facilitate successful integration of citizens returning to communities from correctional institutions, thereby increasing public safety and decreasing recidivism. There are many needs that need to be addressed when an individual is released from prison to assist in creating and providing an environment for a successful transition back into society. Phase I – In Prison Mentorship Genesis in Milwaukee, Inc. provides In-Prison mentorship six to twelve months before a Genesis participant is released. Mentors develop a strong relationship with the inmate and do an extensive evaluation of their needs before release. Phase II – Welcome Center The Welcome Center provides housing and coordinates programs designed to meet the many needs of men reentering the community. There is a strong focus on discipleship in addition to life and vocational skills training. Phase III – Work Center Genesis residents are placed in job training services. Participants are enrolled in a 40-hour job readiness and job retention training program and then are placed in jobs that match their skills and interests. Phase IV – Wealth Center While still in residence, the Wealth Center participants work full-time and establish independent housing. Focus in this phase includes money management, career development and friend and family relationships. Phase V – Community Phase Genesis participants move into independent housing and focus on giving back to the community through service and missions.
