Genesis of a Love Song Radha and Krishna are immortal lovers, who epitomized love, even as the world as it has ever existed has not been able to bind them in the knots of conventional enclosures. The love was pure even as it was defiant, and it challenged every social mold the world tried to set them into, and that’s where the greatness and beauty of their story lies. Krishna was God. He came to the Earth to purge the world of its darkness, ignorance and cruelty, and yet it is a known fact that he often told Radha that she was the strength behind his victories, that even God is powerless and non-existent without the faith and complete devotion of his worshippers. This poem is an attempt to place Radha–Krishna in the contemporary world scenario, and their exchange of hope and ardor in the face of misery and malice. Krishna: Give me a thought, a soothing smile to ease my mind, over a grave agony and intense situation, a tiny little peck on the cheek, a soulful romantic song, a sweet commotion give me the peace of your love Hand over all that you have and all this I ask from point blank Else, I shall give you, what you shouldnt have a lost story perhaps, that ends abruptly a waving hand as I walk away in the darkness of the night A grimace to contort my composed face or my voice harsh, that will take away from you, your will to survive Radha: I shall give all this and more... silver showers of rain... and colours of the rainbow Memories without pain, and moments of sea and melting soft snow A warm cuddly hug on a cold day, and a cup of your favourite tea A kiss on your nose, and a tickle on your toe I will give you a ride on the road of life, and take you away from this world of squalor and strife And accept willingly all that you give... even if all that you give takes away my smile and adds to my grief Krishna: And yet that shall not be all for our destiny wouldnt forestall because of our efforts to mingle into each others beings shall live and grow to what it has to be I’ll give ourselves a story a story that would set alight the existential world from its innate cruelty and darkness Dear, life of mine, give me your courage, so that we shall walk together hand in hand on the streets filled with bonded men and women, with suspicious, accusing eyes who see us as two physical beings, and revel in their lies. They would not understand first Theyd want to push us away from the precipice of our subsistence… and yet we exist unrestrained in our expressions and emotions but as they come to know of our intention to heal and empower would leave not a moment to chance would cease to impale us with their utterances and glance and embrace us as the truth that theyve so long longed to seek we shall be the true icons of the liberated souls and our penned verses paradigm of independence for the meek Radha: A story it shall be, sewn with the fabric of our own souls Stitched with love and painted with emotions of pure gold A story which would enlighten and set the world free, even as it forces the mere mortals to think, feel and see The destinies woven in this tale would be of yours, mine and the world undefined a utopia waiting to happen, a utopia willing to be found There shall be tears and pain of a child unborn, as it comes to existence from its Mother’s womb torn But there shall be colors, hues, sunrises and sunsets That humanity has never seen before and shall never see again!
