Genesis22:11-12 11 At that moment the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!” - “Yes,” Abraham replied. “Here I am!” 12 “Don’t lay a hand on the boy!” the angel said. “Do not hurt him in any way, for now I know that you truly fear God. You have not withheld from me even your son, your only son.” Two points to ponder on: 1) verse 11 says AT THAT MOMENT - what is your response when Heaven tries to communicate with you?? Are you receptive to heavens call? Do you avail yourself to be hear from God? Is God part of your missed call log or do you answer and say here i am Lord?? 2) Dont you wonder how most of us go through life ignoring the call of heaven at crucial moments in our walk with God? If Abraham was not listening, he would have probably gone through with sacrificing his son and lost his blessing. Do you ever wonder what the outcome would have been had Abraham not wanted to sacrifice his son?? Obedience is better than sacrifice(1 Samuel15:22). God provided a ram for Abraham at the alter where he sacrificed it rather than his son. Makes me think: God will not always tell His children the script, He will only tell you the role you are to play. Abraham had time to turn back, to doubt, to second guess whether it was really God and not the enemy wanting him to sacrifice his son. He had a chance to question God but he trusted God more than he trusted in the things of the world. God didnt tell Abraham about the ram waiting at the end of his walk the alter but Abraham kept walking. KEEP WALKING IN FAITH AND NOT BY SIGHT. For you can only see as far as you walk and once you have reached where God has sent you, you will realise that He has already provided for you. God is Jehovah Jireh(The one who provides). and Abraham called that place: The Lord Will provide. And to this day it is said, on the mountain of the Lord it will be provided(Genesis22:14). If God has called you to it, He WILL provide. No matter how high that mountain might look, TO THIS DAY, THE LORD WILL PROVIDE. HE DID NOT STOP WITH ABRAHAM. Proverbs10:22 says The Lord’s blessing brings wealth, and no ·sorrow [trouble] comes with it. - Sometimes in our moments of walking with God. When you walk in obedience that it seems you are about to lose your blessings, that your faith is being stretched to the max, but every good and perfect gift comes from above(James1:17). Proverbs says Gods blessings bring no sorrow, so in Abrahams moment of worship, God calls from heaven and says I have seen your heart, you fear me, I the provider of your blessings mean more to you than the blessings and so I will not let you feel sorrow after praying for and patiently waiting for your blessing(Son). But remember God is able to give you exceedingly abundantly more than you can ask or imagine. When God gave His only son, which seemed like sorrow came with the blessing of Jesus, He caused redemption, peace, joy, restoration and provision to come from what seemed to be a lose to us. You may have lost a few things important to you, but God is able to repay all that and more, He will restore to you the years lost, you shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, you shall not be put to shame(Joel2:25-32). SHOW GOD YOUR FAITH AND HE WILL SHOW YOU HIS FAITHFULNESS.
