George Washington Jones was born in Montgomery County, Virginia on 28 December 1846 to Peter and Mary Angle Jones. G. W. married Sarah F. Hall on 30 June 1868. In 1880, George and Sarah were living in Blacksburg, Virginia where he worked at the Blacksmith trade. By 1900, they had moved to Pembroke in Giles County where George continued blacksmithing. In 1920, George was in his 70s, living with daughter Maud, her husband Roy Byrd and their three young children...and he was still working as a blacksmith. George Washington Jones died on 12 April 1926 and is buried in the Hoges Chapel Cemetery with his wife Sarah (1850-1917). George W. and Sarah Hall Jones were the grandparents of Jason Douglas Jones and Carl Lynn Jones, whose photos were posted earlier. NOTE: Check out the cat!
