Gers To Use Full Squad WRITTEN BY ANDREW DICKSON Rangers have had a good northern tour and Ally McCoist hopes to play every fit player against Elgin tonight RANGERS will adopt the same approach to tonight’s game with Elgin as they did at the weekend against Brora, with every fit player set to play a decent chunk of the match. Of the travelling party in the north of Scotland, only Ross Perry has been ruled out after hurting his ankle in Sunday’s friendly. The defender has sustained some sort of ligament damage but with the injury still swollen, he won’t have a scan on it until he returns home to Glasgow. Andy Mitchell is available again and after being unwell three days ago, Sebastien Faure has also recovered and should therefore be involved. Cammy Bell, meanwhile, is expected to feature despite jarring his ankle in training yesterday and the same applies to Lewis Macleod, who suffered a burst nose in the same session. This evening’s fixture rounds off what has been a hugely successful tour, with the squad in good shape with almost well over two weeks still to go until 2013/14 begins. The team will return home straight from Borough Briggs, reaching Glasgow in the early hours of tomorrow morning. They’ll then fly to England on Friday for a game with Bristol City on Saturday lunchtime before leaving there for a week in Germany at another training camp. In those games there’s every chance Gers will change their policy but for now they’re sticking with the status quo. Assistant manager Kenny McDowall said: “We’ve got a big squad and that’s why we played two groups for 45 minutes each against Brora. “We wanted to work everyone as much as we could on top of the double sessions they have been going through. “There are a few permutations in terms of what sort of teams we could put out so we’ll see what we do against Elgin. “We will probably do the same sort of thing as we did before, with a lot of players getting 45 minutes or maybe an hour for some of them. “We’ll keep it along the same lines though and we are looking forward to the match. The boys have been working hard and they just want to play now. “Games allow the players to kick on again and they get stuff in them that we can’t really give them in training. “We’ve worked them really hard and after not getting any preparation last year, we’ve certainly made up for it this summer. “At the moment we’re telling the players to go and burst themselves for a half if that’s what they’re playing because it’s really important for their fitness.” Rangers fans travelling in cars and buses to tonight’s game can park in the Lossie Green Car Park around 100 yards from the stadium. The road in front of the main stand at Borough Briggs will be closed to traffic but the car park is easily accessible from the ground. //Dean
