Such cruel and senseless mutilations and killings of abandoned stray dogs and cats are absolutely unacceptable. THE EU •MUST subsidize decent ANIMAL SHELTERS in Romania where abandoned strays can survive unharmed and are properly taken care of •MUST subsidize nation-wide neutering programmes ensuring that this cycle of mass reproduction is stopped (see remarks from ROLDA ORG further below) •MUST ensure that the subsidies are going directly to the animal welfare organisations in charge under a continuous control system – to ensure that unlike in Greece and Turkey millions of Euros do not disappear without one cent spend on animal welfare. •MUST ensure that the number of breeders is drastically reduced •MUST ensure that breeders must have a qualification and must be registered •MUST ensure that backyard breeders without licence are severely punished •MUST ensure puppy mills are closed and outlawed •And finally MUST ENSURE THAT THESE BRUTALITIES AGAINST ABANDONED INNOCENT ANIMALS ARE BEING STOPPED IMMEDIATELY. The citizen of Europe are sick and tired watching the problem of strays getting out of hand for the past 15 years and the EU Parliament looking the other direction. WE DO NOT WANT - DO NOT TOLERATE AND DO NOT ACCEPT CRUELTY AGAINST ANIMALS. PROBLEM LONG IDENTIFIED – SOLUTIONS WELL KNOWN AND FEASABLE – ACTION REQUIRED.
