Get Past The First 10 What the heck is #KookyKitty saying now?! :P Well, have you noticed that the first ten minutes of a workout are always the hardest?! Your relaxed body is subject to sudden tension, and it obviously screams like a recalcitrant child who refuses to clean up after himself or herself! :P And that’s when you make the choice: do you continue working out or do you QUIT?! If you quit, your body might thank you today, but it is going to yell louder tomorrow. Why?! Because again, much like a child, if you give it some leeway today, it’s going to expect more favors tomorrow. Your body will be seduced into believing that it can take continuous advantage of your ennui! But once you push past those 10-20 minutes, at the most, your body settles into a wonderful rhythm. You are on your way to a healthier body and a happier mind. Ten to twenty minutes. That’s all it takes to embrace the discomfort and use it to empower yourself! Looping back to my Introductory discussion, a lot of us fail because we refuse to think past those excruciatingly painful first ten minutes. You are thrust into an unknown and unfamiliar environment, and that pesky fear of failure overpowers you to the extent that you do not even get the chance to control that pain. Instead, you cave in to the pain and allow it to control you. End of dream. Today, let’s challenge ourselves – as a community – to accept these first ten minutes of discomfort. Because when you are finally done with the workout, the cool beads of sweat on your forehead will feel wonderful against your flushed skins.
