Oh and dont forget the PS&E!!! Whats that? Positive Support & Encouragement!! ================================= What to know when your Airman leaves for BMT When your Airman first arrives there is typically a scripted call (usually by Sunday) letting you know that they arrived and they are safe. The call is usually brief and scripted. It is COMPLETELY NORMAL for the call to not come immediately and sometimes not to come right away after they arrived. It is COMPLETELY NORMAL for others to receive a call and you havent heard a thing. Just remember to ::breathe:: and keep reading. There is an updated cell phone policy and you can read about it in the post that goes along with the pic of the STOP sign or you can click here: afwm.org/life-during-bmt/cell-phone-policy-while-at-bmt/ In regards to ALL calls please pay special attention to this statement: Calls can come at ANY time, on ANY day and from ANY number so ALWAYS be prepared and no news is good news during BMT. I repeat: Calls can come at ANY time, on ANY day and from ANY number so ALWAYS be prepared and no news is good news during BMT. =============================== The address template is attached and we suggest you copy down so when your trainee calls you can just fill in the blanks. Please continue reading for some additional important info. YOUR TRAINEES ADDRESS FORMAT All the #s will be numbers given to you by your trainee. Again, the call is scripted, short and often emotional. Be prepared to just fill in the blanks. AB Last Name, First Name, Middle Initial # # # TRS / FLT # # # (Dorm Letter-# or # Dorm Letter-#) 1320 Truemper Street Unit 36 # # # # Lackland AFB, TX 78236-# # # # (zip extension) So heres an example of what it looks like filled in: AB Doe, John R 326 TRS/FLT 620 (Dorm B3) 1320 Truemper Street Unit 361006 Lackland AFB, TX 78236-5570 Please prepare yourself mentally for the call as there is not time to chat and your trainee may seem very stressed or emotional. Rest assured it does get better and were here to help. If for whatever reason you do not get the info (maybe it was too loud or your trainee just didnt give the address) please do NOT panic. If your trainee calls to let you know that they arrived and that theyd be calling back later with an address please do NOT panic when the call doesnt come. Sometimes that happens and what you need to remember is a postcard will be coming. If theyve been there a week and still no call or postcard you can email the BMT Reception Center at [email protected] and provide your trainees birth date and the date they left so they can find it for you. Lately theyve been just asking you to wait to receive the postcard with the info. And remember what we said above, Calls can come at ANY time, on ANY day and from ANY number so ALWAYS be prepared and no news is good news during BMT. ================================ {{our MTIs are on holiday break - tune in for their return next week!!}} Tonight well have some special guests on the page from 7-9 CT. They are some former MTIs that come on the page to answer your questions about the BMT training environment. Basically they give you a look into the BMT journey from the MTIs perspective. We encourage you to come back and join us. (((hugs))) ~lisa #afwm #bmt #lackland #military #af #meps #manicmonday
