Get ready for my angry spoiler-riffic rant. I just finished watching the How I Met Your Mother finale. For those of you who know me well, you know this show is an important part of my life. And I loved every single thing about this final episode... up until the last 5 minutes. That was the biggest middle finger to me and the rest of the diehard fans. I get having this one clear cut idea of how the series would end from the very beginning of its run in 2005, which they did, but they had YEARS to change course after realizing just how toxic Ted and Robin had become for each other. And letting us get to know the Mother and falling in love with her just to have her mean absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things because Ted was just going to end up with Robin in the end anyway? It just blows my mind that the same genius writers Ive loved for nine years and totally, 100%, NAILED the meeting of Ted and Tracy at the train station and Barney holding his daughter for the first time couldnt see the fact that this ending completely undermines the entire point of the entire storyline. To find out that this story of how I met your mother was just a complete distraction from the real story behind it which was Ted still being in love with Robin? Terrible. Ive never been so pissed off at a tv show (although the Dexter finale is a very close second). I just cant. /end rant
