Get to know our staff in 10 questions - 60 seconds with Dr Leonie Q- How long have you been in the vet industry for? 12 years. I’ve worked in Swan Hill, Launceston, Melbourne and Brisbane. I started out in mixed practice & loved treating every species possible (even a Tassie Devil) but fell into the suburban way of life & so now concentrate on the smaller varieties Q- What do you do in your spare time? I don’t have a lot of spare time as I fill it all up but I like to play the piano & cross stitch Q- Where is your favourite holiday destination? East Africa, without a doubt. Everything about that place was wondrous – the landscapes, the people, the wildlife & the eye-opening difference between 3rd & 1st world societies Q- What is one of your hobbies? I love to ride my mountain bike with friends, & often with Meg my dog leading the way (she hates not winning the ‘race’) Q- Do you have pets? I have a nutty German Coolie, Meg, & 2 Tasmanian moggie cats who hate the cold – Molly & Harry Q- Do you have any special areas of interest in the veterinary industry? I really love the hard-to-solve weird & wacky medicine cases - I love a challenge. I also really enjoy soft tissue surgery Q- Whats your weakness? I’m incredibly gullible – you can have a lot of fun leading me up a garden path Q- Career highlights? Landing a job at Wilston Vet – the best place to work ever (and it’s true)! Q- What would most people be shocked to know about you? That I have a black belt in Seido Karate and love to beat people up. I’ve trained with Seido for over 8 years & find it a fabulous way to stay active, establish great friendships & keep myself grounded & happy Q- Favourite food? Definitely cheese. Any cheese really, but fetta, blue & goat’s top the list Well thats 10 questions with Dr Leonie. Stay tuned for the next update and if you have any questions you want to ask, feel free to add them as a comment.
