Getting Out Of a Jam! Situation: Yesterday the Stars and Stripes Gold Team came from behind and tied the game up in the last inning as catcher dropped ball on a tag at the plate after a hit to center field in the top half of the 6th. In the bottom half of the 6th short stop made a error with lead off batter getting to second base. Our pitcher balks on first pitch moving the runner to 3rd base with no body out and the tournament life on the line. Special defense is employed bringing in center fielder to play right on second base with left and right fielders shading center and playing up to the cut of the grass. Infield is in. First batter grounds out with runner staying for first out. Second batter hits a weak fly ball to the right fielder right on the edge of the grass, too shallow for a tag for second out. Third batter is a man child so he is intentionally walked. Fourth batter hits come backer to the pitcher who fields and throws runner out. What a great series of plays and how fun for the kids and families to see them get out of the jam. The team comes back to score 4 runs in the top of the 8th to secure a win.
