WHY NOT?! :) Here you go the English version of our Letterpress Workshop details (will update the part on our website letuspress/workshop/basic-workshop/ real soon): Letterpress Basics, Dance with all the Limitations We get an extra dimension when printing with a letterpress. The process bring us back to an age whence you get better from the machine than what you see on the monitor. Together with all the limitations which has to be overcome by craftsmanship and experience; while we have to live with some of them: large area of solid colour, tiny text below 6 points and halftone screens are technically daunting. In this workshop we will lead you through the process, from prepress to finishing. You will witness all the troubles when printing with a Heidelberg T-platen which is produced in the 70s. Give us a plain and simple design then you will bring home a pack of beautiful letterpress prints. Workshop Outline -Preparation: a simple, 2-colour graphic design. Using font sizes above 8 points, and set them in a easy to read manner. -Design Specifications: Tell us the pantone number or CMYK numbers or even hex number of your chosen colours. Avoid large area of solid colour, or small text within a large solid area. -Line/dots Thickness: thinnest printable lines lines are 0.25 points; smallest printable dots are 1 point. Please check before sending us the file. -Film Output: the graphic file (outlined ai or pdf file) shall be handed in at least 4 days before the workshop. -Plate Making: We will explain the workings of photo-polymer plate and how to produce it. -Mixing Colour: Explaining the properties of printing ink; and mix your colour! -Workings of a Letterpress: We will show the operation of the Heidelberg letterpress, explaining the functions of every button and lever; most importantly how it registers each printing plates. Each participant will take away 60pcs of A5-size prints; 2-colour, single side. Printed on 425gsm Neenah Printable blotter.
