Getting old now... Its official.. I was pulled back into my teens/twenties watching a PBS fund drive with Peter, Paul and Mary. Its odd how we lose track of the sense of importance of the issues of the day and the way the time and circumstances that surrounded us, shaped and solidified who we are today. As middle aged boomers, passion fades into our memories until the music, poetry or art of the time stir the emotion, angst and passion again. Perhaps when youthful vigor and vitality is gone, only the art, music and poetry will be the standard bearers left behind that actually will have the power to summon the courage of old men to stand tall again to do whats right because the heart tells them so. I think the great cultures of our past may have been more advanced in their knowledge of what stirs the soul to rise up and perform marvelous acts of courage. Their craft was far beyond the technological nightmare we live in today. They developed an ageless voice that could relive emotion and restore faith in human endeavor. Thank you artists, writers and courageous dreamers for inspiring and capturing the passion, hope and self expression of our souls. Yep, now I know Im officially an old codger.
